Week 2 of VHA Study Tour Continues On
Mara Richards (CEO) and Quentin Norton (Board Chair) have continued with the Victorian Health Association (VHA) Study Tour.
The group landed in Thunder Bay Ontario Canada to end the first week, visiting North West Community Health Centres and the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, and have gained insight into service delivery, Indigenous health and workforce issues.
Over the weekend they arrived in the USA and commenced their tour in Salt Lake City visiting Intermountain Healthcare – which is a not for profit health system based in Salt Lake City, Utah. With 22 hospitals, a broad range of clinics and services, about 1,400 employed primary care and secondary care physicians at more than 185 clinics in the Intermountain Medical Group
They have continued with visits to the VA Salt Lake City Health Care System (VASLCHCS) which consists of the George E. Wahlen Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) in Utah, Idaho, and Nevada. And The University of Utah Hospital is a research and teaching hospital on the campus of the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The tour will finish up in San Francisco with a visit to Kaiser Permanente, the U.S’ largest non-profit integrated health care system with over 9.6 million members.
