Renal Dialysis
RDHS nursing staff provide a high-quality renal dialysis service which is supported by clinical and medical staff from Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) Renal Services as a satellite program

This collaboration allows RDHS patients to receive potentially life-saving treatment close to the comfort of home.

The RDHS Dialysis Service provides renal replacement therapy in the form of haemodialysis, involving the use of a machine to pump blood through an extracorporeal circuit and a filter. This treatment may be permanent or temporary, depending on the patient's suitability for transplantation, or the option of peritoneal dialysis.

The RMH also provides 24/7 telephone support to clinicians, enabling medical and surgical consultation, support services, outpatient services and admission, in addition to providing dialysis training and professional development for RDHS nurses working in the Renal Dialysis Unit.

RDHS currently have four chairs operating six days a week with specialist trained dialysis nursing staff.
